TEACH Grant Application

Teach Grant Overview.  The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is a federal student aid program that provides up to $4,000 per year to students who meet specific eligibility requirements and intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school.  In exchange for receiving a TEACH Grant, a recipient must agree to serve:

          *  As a highly-qualified, full-time teacher;

          *  In a high-need subject area;

          *  At a school classified as one that serves low-income students;

          *  For at least 4 years within 8 years of leaving school.

Failure to meet the teaching service obligations will result in the TEACH Grant being converted to an Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan with interest accrual going back to the initial disbursement date of TEACH Grant funds.

Prior to submitting this TEACH Grant Request Form, we strongly encourage you to review the comprehensive TEACH Grant information at this website:  https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/grants/teach.

If you are eligible for the TEACH Grant, you will be required to complete the TEACH Grant Counseling and the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve at https://studentaid.gov/teach-grant-program before you can receive funds.

*Note: No student may receive more than the TEACH Grant maximum annual amount of $4,000 in any academic year. Award amounts may be adjusted due to part-time enrollment status; in addition, the $4,000 award may be somewhat reduced in accordance with any government budget sequestration rules currently in place.
*Note: Only three semesters can be chosen per form.
If you are applying on the basis of a qualifying test score, or based on the fact that you are a current teacher, please upload a copy of your test score or your current teaching contract, whichever applies.

Certification:

I certify that I understand that in exchange for receiving the TEACH Grant I must fulfill a 4-year service obligation as a full-time, highly-qualified teacher in a high-need field at a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves low-income students, and that this service must occur within 8 years of completing my education degree program.  I further understand that if I fail to fulfill my service obligation I will be required to repay with interest all funds received from the TEACH Grant program as a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.  I also understand that I may cancel all or a portion of the TEACH Grant funds awarded to me within 14 days of receiving my financial aid award letter and accessing the Financial Aid Terms and Conditions, or by the first day of the semester for which I was scheduled to receive a TEACH Grant, whichever date is later.
