Software Installation Request Form

The software installation request procedure provides an easy way for faculty and staff to request that software applications be installed in the computer labs or on their Brenau-issued computers. Through this process, we can ensure that integrity and security are maintained in academic and institutional computing environments.

A. Software Installation Request Guidelines:
The following software products are already installed on all Windows-based Brenau computers so no request form is needed:

  • Microsoft Office - including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Access is no longer included)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Google Chrome
  • MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
  • Google Desktop

NOTE: Zoom is a per user non-admin install now so it is not pre-installed.  You will install Zoom yourself the first time to join or intitiate a Zoom meeting.

Certain products are optional (ClearTouch Collage, SnagIT) and can be installed by visiting the "Software Center" on your computer. The Software Center can be found by clicking the Start button and typing "Software Center" in your search box. Some products have been found to interfere with network operations and have been banned. Please do not request installations of any of the following software: iTunes, Dropbox, Java, Coupon Printer, Weatherbug.

Information Technology department staff will install the software requested when the following conditions are met:

  1. For labs: User submits this form at least 2 weeks before the term begins
  2. Written, validated evidence of the site license is required before software will be installed.
  3. Evaluation software or demo versions will not be accepted.
  4. The following materials are required for the request to be acted on:
    1. Software (media) or location of installation files
    2. Software documentation (so that we may read the installation requirements and procedures)
    3. Software license that shows on how many computers this software may be installed

Chrome Extensions or Google Play apps

  1. We maintain a list of approved Chrome extensions  and Google Play apps centrally.  If you receive an error message when adding a Chrome extension or Google Play app, you can request that it be added to the approved list using the form below.
  2. Please be sure that all extensions requested have a valid institutional need.  Do not submit requests for extensions for shopping applications or other extensions that are for personal use.
  3. You can view the list of already-approved extensions and apps here:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10KC34-0LvnIhDPQz2JCnQDJ-6WotHScmkGzgI2GMA48/edit?usp=sharing
